Thorne

The little village we stayed in the first few days in England is called Thorne. Every house had a name like the Old Coach House, Thorne House, or Thorne Cottage (where we stayed), reminiscent of the days when there really was a coach house, a cider brewery, and three busy farms. Now, though, the village is barely a village--only acquiring its title because of its one small church--and is just comprised of a one-lane street of houses bordered by fields of cows and buttercups. It was an absolutely beautiful place to stay!

Stonehenge

A very jetlagged visit to Stonehenge the first morning of our trip. Luckily they sold coffee.

Falling

I've fallen out of favour
And I've fallen from grace
Fallen out of trees
And I've fallen on my face
Fallen out of taxis
Out of windows too
Fell in your opinion
When I fell in love with you

Sometimes I wish for falling
Wish for the release
Wish for falling through the air
To give me some relief
Because falling's not the problem
When I'm falling I'm in peace
It's only when I hit the ground
It causes all the grief

This is a song for a scribbled out name
And my love keeps writing again and again
This is a song for a scribbled out name
And my love keeps writing again and again

I'll dance myself up
Drunk myself down
Find people to love
Love people too drunk
I'm not scared to jump
I'm not scared to fall
If there was nowhere to land
I woudn't be scared
At all
All

Sometimes I wish for falling
Wish for the release
Wish for falling through the air
To give me some relief
Because falling's not the problem
When I'm falling I'm in peace
It's only when I hit the ground
It causes all the grief

Isn't this beautiful? I can't stop listening to Florence + The Machine.

I'll Start With Food

The most important part of any trip ;)

England:

plowman's lunch

clotted cream & strawberry jam scones...had this way too many times!

breakfast :)

note the Harrod's paper

sasusage and cheese and toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds....best calzone ever

typical London Indian food

The Icecreamists! One of the best ice cream cones I've ever had. This was the prettiest flavor.

vanilla cream something something

Paris:

proscuitto and cantaloupe with balsamic vinegar....interesting but good combo

of course, crème brûlée!

of course, crêpes!

limonade is a bit more sophisticated-sounding that sprite

sososososos delicious!

the greenest pesto I have ever seen
best meal of my life began with some gross-sounding spread that was actually really good, french pickles and mini onions (amazing), and bread

next course, shrimp with squid ink risotto

for entrée (or, le plat as they call it--in France, appetizers are les entrées and courses are les plats), dorado fish

my mom's plat. I love the cute little broccoli :)

I had a vanilla cream something that was absolutely amazing--basically a really creamy milkshake with raspberries on top. But the picture was blurry, so this is my brother's chocolate something or other (the name isn't important. It's chocolaty-ness is enough!)

a pâtisserie window--I want one of everything!!

of course, croque-monsieur!

At 1:00am tomorrow morning, I will be getting off a plane in London, where it is 7:00, after a 6 hour plane ride where I should have gotten a full night of sleep--fun! BUT I'M SO EXCITED!!! English countryside/London for a week and then Paris for a week (Et je suis bien preparée! Ma français est fantastique) (if only...).

That is, if I ever finish packing!

Anyway, the pictures I included are mostly Parisian or British style bloggers. And yes, I'm going to look just like that when I'm walking around being a tourist ;)

PS: expect a deluge of pictures in two weeks + time to recover from jet lag!
