Druid Girl
photographed and edited by me... unfortunately the photos turned out a bit grainy, sorry about that, I think something was off with the camera's focus
Aren't the flowers so pretty? I picked them myself at a local orchard. More pictures from there soon!

Mattapoisett
I'm quite the travel bug lately! After my week spent at nerd camp, I have traveled two hours away to Mattapoisett, a small town on a bay in Massachusetts. I had a lovely time with my four hosts and I would like to thank them so much for a fantastic long weekend! I found enormous quantities of creative inspiration in the several pieces of vintage furniture and a floor of what used to be servant quarters in the over century-old house that we stayed at. Through the open windows of the house's charming interior lay and equally charming view: a gently sloping lawn leading to a rocky pier that stretched through calm waters simply teeming with sailboats. Photographer paradise, naturally!
We went tubing on the bay! I loooooooooove tubing so much, and had the best time. In the instance pictured, I had just finished a ride when I was practically dragged by the tube and got back on while going 30 mph. I'm breathless just thinking about it! Good times :)
We stopped at this sweet little farm stand by the road
Best $3 ever spent!
I hope all of you, my fabulous readers, are enjoying an equally fabulous summer.

Blue Eyes
I used to have this somewhat paradoxical question I asked whoever I happened to feel like asking. Eventually, my science prodigy brother came up with some scientific theory that totally flattened it, but if I forget about that, the question still entrances me. It goes something like this:
"What if everyone saw color differently? Is it possible that the color I see called periwinkle blue when I look out my window at the sky could really be the color someone else sees when their eyes turn towards the grass underneath that wide expanse of what, to someone else, could be the color that I see as red? We would never know the difference, would we, because when we were very young someone told us, hey, see that? that's called green ... even though the shade that our eyes saw may very well be the shade that someone called purple." (Originally I came up with this through considering why everyone's favorite color was different. With this method of thinking, it can be explained that everyone really does have the same favorite color, we just call it different names. But anyway.)
Even though this is most likely impossible because each color emits a certain wavelength that our brains detect and see as a certain color, it certainly is fascinating to consider and makes me think of how everyone just perceives the world differently.
I thought about this idea when I took a sequence of photographs of a lamp in a window. None of the pictures are the same, and none of them look at the scene directly, representing each individual's interpretation of everything in life and that no one person has the "correct" approach.

Amherst
So, the reason for the lack of posts last week and the urgent flurry in the last few days is this: I spent a week at nerd camp at Amherst College! (It's actually called GreatBooks, but I call it--with a bit of sarcasm, though it is kind of true--nerd camp) I was super busy learning and absorbing a thoughtful and intelligent atmosphere, but I did snap a few (er, okay, many) pictures.
Delicious ice cream!
My friend sees this picture and asks, "Whose head is that?" I truthfully responded that it is, in fact, her head...
The ceiling in the lecture hall!
That is my room with the much-needed fan--Friday had a heat-index of 110 degrees, and there was NO AIR CONDITIONING. Yes, I was sure glad to have a fan!
Every time someone mentioned this building, I thought of my sneakers!
The view from my window at night.
xoxo
